More Vampire Gang

This is my favorite concept art for the vampire gang.

The Vampire Gang

As I mentioned earlier, these characters are violent vampires. So if these vampires want to drink your blood they have to torment you first. My vampires are the spawn of the Egyptian Goddess Bastet. The cat headed goddess. Imagine a kitten playing with a grasshopper, only the kitten is a psycho goth kid with vast power and the grasshopper is you.

My Vampires

More concept art for Lubbock. My vampires are from cats not bats, and have to torture their victims. These two vampires are also the heroes of the Lubbock story. Lots of ancient Egypt coolness with these characters and they run a gang of vampires. Yay!

Chronos Cultist

This drawing has terrible anatomy. I do apologize for this, but as I draw more the more these problems get solved. For some reason I have always had anxiety about drawing women.

Its drawings like this that make me think about how I stopped drawing for years thinking I would be better off if I could just write and find an artist to do the drawings.

I have changed my mind about that to a certain extent, and have done at least a dozen drawings of women since this one. What I like about this drawing is the color and costume. Concept is good too, but I need to find a way to pull this off with quality art.

Estrella

This is another character from my comic book Lubbock. Yet to be written and drawn I'm afraid. But she is part of the west texas city transformed by a trans-normal event which gave a certain percentage of its citizens what appear to be magical powers.

She is a power player in the latino part of town. One of my goals as an artist and writer is to develop more interesting fictions about latinos in general, especially those living in the United States.

Chronos with one of his cult members

Chronos has a cult of followers who he treats with his strange drugs. See my fiction blog: Dawn of the Ubermensch for more details.

His followers develop a third eye, which he never does. This is very important to the story I plan to tell with this character.

More Drawings of Dr. Chronos

Dr. Chronos is a character that I have developed extensively on my blog Dawn of the Ubermensch. This is this character's prequal.

I am enamored with this character, and he is the anti-hero of a comic I eventually hope to self-publish called Lubbock. Unfortunately this comic has been temporarily placed on the backburner as I pursue other projects, but I have every intention of doing this. Some day it will be my magnum opus, which means I need to do other things first.

Dr. Chronos all in Flash

Dr. Chronos is the main character in my comic book; Lubbock, which I am currently working on. Getting this done in flash is great because I have been so intimidated about using software to draw. I have chosen flash somewhat arbitrarily. I got hooked up with this software, as well as with a loan of a wacom tablet, but my friend Thor. Who is a tremendous artistic influence on me. I know that I need to do my art electronically either way.

From what I hear, Illustrator is probably the standard. But flash is good enough for my drawing needs, and I will have a ton of stock art to make cartoons with later.

Getting With Modernity

The time has come for me to get into digital illustration. I love drawing by hand, but I can't deny the efficiency, the perfectionism, the multi-modality of digital art.

Unfortunately I am like a caveman that got decent with fire, trying to learn to use a computer. I am totally novice. I am up to my ears in manuals and tutorials. I imagine the number one way to progress is experiment first, then read.

Here is my first flash drawing.

Eric the Godslayer

This is another one of my creations. This guy is definitely based on my buddy Eric Mathis.

I have a great deal of love for this character and my friend, which both represent a wild joyful mind, which is intensely honed yet completely un-encumbered.

May you smash many idols, my beloved friend.

Though just like Chronos, this character has taken a life all its own and imagine he will drift farther and farther from my old friend as I write him more.

Dr. Chronos Take Two

I am totally obsessed with this character.

He started as a autobiographical piece, but quickly took a life all his own. Now I see him as a sort of strange guide, like the white rabbit into the depths of my own weirdness. Chronos is my wish lab, I see what would it be like if someone somewhat like me got all my darkest wishes.

Lubbock Sketchbook Page 1

This is my first page of a hardcover sketchbook that I have dedicated to preparing my comic book.

Concept art, so to speak.

This picture is of Dr. Chronos, he is the anti-hero/villain of the book. He has a strange power to communicate with his body on a cellular level. This gives him strange powers of time perception, which unlocks all kinds of craziness.

His hometown undergoes a freak scientific accident where about 10% of the people manifest superpowers, and "avatars" which is kind of like the person's god/wish/obsession/spirit guide/demon.

Chronos returns to Lubbock to try to take it over, using its strange qualities to be supreme ruler over all he sees.

Show Flyer

My sinister plan is to try to get into doing rock and roll poster art to try to generate local recognition for my art. My first such attempt, as well as the first serious attempt at an art piece since college ended over a year ago is this:

The Great Mage Thor at Work.

Thor is the brains of the Intelligence Community, a cyberdelic band. Thor is a great friend, a great musician, and a great artist as well. This piece truly represents my sentiment towards Thor. I only wish it was a better drawing.

Intro

Hello, my pseudonym is Enrique Recuero. My ambition is to self publish a thought provoking adult intellectual comic book. I have attempted this in the past with a lot of help from my friend Will Terrell. He was always the primary guiding hand in my past attempts.

This will be my first time to go at it alone. It will also be my first time to attempt something like this in 10 years.

I have a great dayjob, hence the pseudonym, and find myself really wanting to see how far I can push my potential as an artist and a writer to try to communicate with the largest audience possible.

It is a real passion for me.

In this blog I hope to share with whoever reads it the mechanics, discipline and just day to day grind of trying to make a comic in your spare time.

I hope to be able to get some scans and post them in the next couple of weeks. I do not have a scanner and will be depending on the kindness of friends for this.

But, its also a great excuse to hang out with cool friends.

When the scans are done I will have great cause to write.
